About Accounting For Economic Development

AFED is a professional-led development organisation focused on strengthening entrepreneurs through accounting, tax, governance, and financial capability.

Who We Are

Accounting For Economic Development (AFED) is founded and led by accountants, auditors, tax practitioners, business advisors, and other professionals who believe that economic empowerment must be supported by financial competence and accountability.

AFED exists to close a critical gap in the development ecosystem: many entrepreneurs receive inspiration, training, or funding, but not enough structured support in the areas that determine long-term survival—financial management, tax compliance, governance, and reporting discipline.

Our Mission

To strengthen entrepreneurs and small enterprises by embedding financial capability, compliance, and governance into enterprise development so that businesses can grow sustainably and contribute meaningfully to economic inclusion.

Our Vision

A development ecosystem in which entrepreneurs are not only inspired and funded, but also financially structured, professionally supported, and equipped to prosper sustainably.

Our Values

Integrity

Early-stage and growing businesses that need financial structure, compliance support, and practical guidance.

Professional Excellence

We apply technical expertise with discipline and care.

Dignity

We support entrepreneurs in a way that respects their agency and ambition.

Service

We use professional knowledge to create real economic opportunity.

Sustainability

We focus on long-term enterprise viability, not short-term intervention.

Where We Work

AFED operates primarily in South Africa, with a broader developmental interest in the SADC region. Our work is designed to respond to the realities of underserved entrepreneurs, especially those who need both capability-building and credible financial support structures.
